GOP lawmakers fight sign rule

East Tennessee's freshmen congressmen this week co-authored their first piece of joint legislation - taking aim at what they consider an "unfunded mandate" that could cost local governments in Tennessee $50 million. The bill introduced by Republican U.S. Reps. Scott DesJarlais and Chuck Fleischmann could roll back the mandate that all Tennessee road signs be updated by 2015 and 2018 in compliance with the Federal Highway Administration's new nighttime visibility standards.
