“Tonight marks 1,000 days since the Senate has passed a budget. Rather than a credible plan to address this issue and other serious obstacles facing our nation, what we heard sounded more like a “bumper sticker” speech.
“It is puzzling how the president can suggest that we are on our way to an economic recovery when we borrow more than a trillion dollars a year to run our country.
“I was hoping to hear responsible solutions to creating jobs, reducing the size of government and controlling runaway spending. Instead, the president chose to recycle the same failed ideas and unaffordable promises.”
