Congressman Scott DesJarlais, M.D. (TN-04) issued the following statement on the release of United States Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi after 214 days of imprisonment in Mexico:

“After seven months, I am overjoyed to hear the long-awaited news that Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi is finally heading home. While I am disappointed his release did not take place much sooner, I am thankful he will now be able to recover from this traumatic situation surrounded by family and friends on American soil. Sgt. Tahmooressi served his country with honor as a United States Marine, and we owe him nothing less than our full support as he transitions back to life at home. I know that folks across the Fourth District have kept Sgt. Tahmooressi in their thoughts and prayers and I am thankful those prayers have finally been answered. ”
