“I was deeply saddened to hear the news former British Prime Minister Baroness Margaret Thatcher has passed away. Lady Thatcher was truly an inspirational leader who shaped today’s world by bringing conservative principles to Western Europe and helping to abolish Communism in Russia. She was a staunch defender of capitalism and believed that smaller government is better government. We will always remember her convictions and strength and the friendship she shared with President Reagan. I hope that all Tennesseans will join me in prayer today for her loved ones.”
