Congressman Scott DesJarlais, MD (TN-04) released the following statement after Senators Corker (R-TN) and Murphy (D-CT) released a plan to raise the gas tax by 12 cents over the next two years:

“As long as I am in the House of Representatives, I will oppose any effort to raise taxes. Washington does not have a revenue problem; it has a spending problem. While I understand the need for good roads, the answer is to prioritize spending – not increase taxes on Tennessee families.”
