Representative Scott DesJarlais (TN-04) remains committed to maintaining an ongoing conversation with his constituents on important legislative issues being debated in Washington. To help in soliciting feedback from the individuals he represents, Rep. DesJarlais launched his “Tennessee Job Creators” tour, “Listening to Tennessee” tour and telephone town hall series. During these events, DesJarlais has been able to receive guidance and feedback from his constituents on how to best represent them in the United States House of Representatives.

To build upon the success of these efforts, Rep. DesJarlais is pleased to announce his “Senior Listening Tour”. This tour will give Tennessee’s senior citizens and Representative DesJarlais an opportunity to discuss important issues that directly impact seniors, such as Medicare, Social Security and Veterans Affairs.

“There are certainly big challenges facing seniors that need to be addressed. At the top of that list is Medicare, which is on the road to bankruptcy and must be reformed if we hope to save it for current and future generations. I hope that this tour will provide me with an opportunity to hear directly from seniors in my district with regards to how they feel entitlement reform should be approached in Congress and what solutions they have for putting Medicare back on a sustainable path. I remain committed to ensuring that our seniors are taken care of and I look forward to partnering with them in addressing these important issues,” said Representative DesJarlais.

“While traveling throughout our district, I’ve found that my constituents have an abundance of commonsense ideas that could help in solving many of our nation’s fiscal and economic challenges. Whether it is a business owner identifying burdensome federal regulations that hurt his ability to create jobs, or a mother that is simply concerned about the amount of debt being passed onto her children, I rely on my constituents to tell me what issues are important to the Fourth District. Without a doubt, the first step to being a good representative is being a good listener.”
