Congressman Scott DesJarlais Votes in Favor of “Require a Plan Act”
February 6, 2013
This legislation would require the White House to produce a balanced budget within a 10-year window or provide a supplemental budget plan by April 1, 2013 that identifies which fiscal year their plan would achieve balance.
“House Republicans have passed a budget every year since regaining control of the chamber in 2010, yet the Democratic-controlled Senate and the administration have refused to act,” said Congressman DesJarlais. “My constituents in Tennessee must live within a budget when operating their homes and businesses, yet the federal government cannot seem to do the same in running the country. Today’s legislation will hopefully force President Obama to finally submit a budget that estimates when the deficit will be eliminated. It is time for the White House and Senate to join House Republicans in addressing our $16 trillion debt that is preventing businesses from creating jobs and limiting the future of our children and grandchildren.”
The congressman recently spoke on the House floor in support of the “Require a Plan Act.”
