TENNESSEE’S FOURTH DISTRICT CELEBRATES LATEST EMPLOYER GROUNDBREAKING
September 20, 2017
DAYTON, TN – Continuing its winning streak, Tennessee’s Fourth District today celebrated the groundbreaking of the latest manufacturer to locate a large facility – and hundreds of jobs – in the region. Congressman Scott DesJarlais, M.D., was present at the ceremony in Dayton, Rhea County, for Finnish company Nokian Tyres.
The company’s $360 million investment follows another multi-million dollar investment in nearby Bledsoe County by a textile company, signaling a resurgence of American manufacturing, said Rep. DesJarlais (TN-04). His tour of local industry has crisscrossed the district. “Republicans in Congress and the President are working together to eliminate harmful taxes and regulations that impede job creation and economic growth,” he said.
“Tennessee, where taxes and regulations are low, and Tennesseans are especially diligent and hardworking, is providing an example to the rest of the country. Our state is also leading a return to technical education to help students and experienced workers learn new skills and find employment.”
Rutherford County in the Fourth District is one of the fastest growing in the United States. Rhea County’s economy is advancing. “I’m confident more employers like Nokian will come to appreciate the business-friendly environment and capable, eager workforce here,” said Rep. DesJarlais.
Last month, he visited HYLA Mobile, a new high-tech employer in LaVergne, which will hire an estimated 225 Tennesseans. Rep. DesJarlais recently voted to simplify federal grants for state technical education programs, as well as permits for energy and other infrastructure projects.
