The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee will hold a hearing  on Wednesday, May 22 on the political targeting of conservative organizations by the Internal Revenue Service.

“Recent revelations showing that senior White House officials were aware that the IRS was targeting conservative groups directly contradicts earlier statements made by the administration,” said Congressman DesJarlais. “By not being forthright and honest with the American people, we have no choice but to use all the tools in Oversight's investigative arsenal  to find out how high up in the Administrations these decisions were made.”

The full committee hearing, entitled “The IRS: Targeting Americans for Their Political Beliefs,” will be held at 9:30 a.m. in Room 2154 of the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing will be streamed live at http://oversight.house.gov.

Congressman DesJarlais is available for Interviews before and after the hearing.

The Committee has invited the following witnesses to testify:

·         Lois Lerner, Director of Exempt Organizations, Internal Revenue Service

·         Douglas Shulman, Former Commissioner, Internal Revenue Service

·         Neal S. Wolin, Deputy Secretary, Department of the Treasury
