Representative Scott DesJarlais (TN-04) issued the following statement after voting for H.J. Res. 48, the second short-term CR to fund the government until April 8, 2011:

“In keeping with our promise to cut spending, I voted today to pass a short-term Continuing Resolution introduced by House Republicans that contains over $6 billion in spending reductions and funds the government for the next three weeks. The passage of this second short-term CR totals $10 billion in cuts passed by the House over just five weeks.

“This vote sends a clear message to Senate Democrat Leaders and President Obama that House Republicans are serious about cutting spending and getting our economy back on track to creating jobs.

“It’s time for the Senate and White House to follow the lead of House Republicans in delivering the level of spending cuts that the American people expect.”
