On Thursday, September 23, 2011, Representative Scott DesJarlais (TN-04) released the following statement after voting against the amended Continuing Resolution:

“After reviewing the updated Continuing Resolution, I still did not find that it contained a sufficient level of spending reductions. Clearly we need to get our nation’s fiscal house in order and the only way to do that is to institute serious spending cuts and reforms.

“I voted in favor of the Path to Prosperity because it is a credible plan that will finally get our nation’s debt under control. Unfortunately, this Continuing Resolution exceeded the spending levels that were set forth in that budget.

“I remain committed to making the tough spending decisions necessary to put our nation back on the right fiscal track and give employers the confidence to start creating jobs.”
