A local Korean War veteran received top honors May 17 with a free trip to Washington, D.C. Robert "Bob" Fullerton flew in the Honor Flight of Middle Tennessee program. Honor Flight transports veterans to the capital to tour war monuments and memorials. Rep. DesJarlais had the pleasure of greeting Mr. Fullerton along with other Tennessee Veterans at the WWII memorial. "Tennessee veterans flew in the early morning and over a long distance to be in Washington," DesJarlais said in a statement. "However, their sacrifices for our country extend over a lifetime. They fought in dangerous conflicts in foreign lands, at the height of the Cold War, and deserve our nation's eternal gratitude -- enshrined at the World War II Memorial and others. The brave men and women I met make the Volunteer State proud.
