Rep. DesJarlais Statement on Senate Passage of Continuing Resolution Funding ObamaCare
October 2, 2013
Today the United States Senate passed a continuing resolution stripping the House provision defunding the Affordable Care Act (ACA). This legislation will now head over to the United States House of Representatives to be voted on over the weekend. Congressman Scott DesJarlais, M.D. (R-TN-04) released the following statement:
“Unfortunately the valiant effort by a select group of conservative senators was not enough to prevent the Senate from disregarding the will of the American people. Now the House must once again hold the line in preventing the implementation of ObamaCare. I remain committed in refusing to vote for any legislation that funds the president’s health care law and I call upon my colleagues to join me. A temporary shutdown pales in comparison to the long-term negative consequences that ObamaCare will impose on our economy and our health care system.”
